DING DING DING by George Hall
DING DING DING
On Saturday 9th June 2018 I am ditching my suit for a pair of boxing gloves and a gum shield. I am taking part in a white collar boxing event put on by Ultra White Collar Boxing in aid of Cancer Research. Ultra White Collar Boxing are Cancer Research’s biggest fundraisers and have raised over £10,000,000 since 2009. The programme itself consists of an intensive 8 week boxing course followed by a boxing match taking place at none other than Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham. It will be a big occasion for all where you can purchase tickets to come and watch the fight yourself. It will be a glamorous black tie event at a fantastic historic sporting venue. The fight itself will consist of 3 rounds of boxing lasting 2 minutes each officiated by an referee.
Everyone at some point in their lives have more than likely been affected in one why or another by Cancer, I know I certainly have. So I thought last week I want to do something about, I was sitting down watching the George Groves VS Chris Eubank Jr. fight and it come to me, I want people to sponsor me for stepping into the ring, been completely put out of my comfort zone and put through the paces in an amateur boxing match.
This is most defiantly going to be the biggest challenge I have ever faced, I have no boxing experience and to put it bluntly I am completely out of shape. I have a long and gruelling fitness regime currently underway and with your kind donations this will really spur me on and make it all worthwhile.
Cancer Research has a vision, and that vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive.
Their ambition is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years. The money that Cancer Research receives goes to scientists to help find a cure.
So there you have it on Saturday 9th June 2018 I will be stepping into the ring to fight for Cancer Research at Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Your donations will really help, not only for my fight but for the fight with Cancer. You can give as much or as little as you like at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/georgehall89
